about

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of German Studies, College of Humanities, University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona. My recent monograph, The Invention of Monolingualism, is out with Bloomsbury. With Deniz Göktürk, Anton Kaes, and Andreas Langenohl, I was co-editor of two major sourcebooks on migration and multiculturalism in Germany since 1955: Germany in Transit (U of California Press, 2007) and Transit Deutschland (Konstanz University Press, 2011). I am also a working literary translator, and a member of the American Literary Translators’ Association. A full list of publications since 2007 is available on my “CV” link above.
