Award-winning filmmaker Osman Okkan has woven together portraits of six influential Turkish authors—Aslı ErdoğanNazim HikmetYaşar KemalMurathan MunganOrhan Pamuk, and Elif Safak—into a set of compelling short films entitled Human Landscapes: Portraits of Six Turkish Authors. Each film explores the work of one of the writers in the context of modern Turkey’s shifting political landscape, raising questions about literary and political developments, human rights, minority rights, religious freedom, and freedom of speech.
